Baby's library deserves Eric Carle's beloved baby board book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Follow the story of a hungry caterpillar as he begins as an egg, eats his way through various foods until he eventually rests in his cocoon and emerges as a beautiful butterfly. The brightly-colored, collage pictures are gorgeous and world-famous. The story will teach baby about counting and the days of the week (On Monday, the caterpillar ate through one apple, On Tuesday, he ate two pears, etc but he was still hungry) as well as metamorphosis and perhaps even moderate eating (too much junk gave the little guy a tummy ache!) The book is a classic, hailed by The New York Times as "[G]orgeously illustrated, brilliantly innovative." It's no wonder that Eric Carle sold more than 145 million copies of his books worldwide!
